Lightning.

Last night, as I walked out of an awesome (I need to use that word less) worship service  and into the night air, I was taken aback by bursts of lightning all around me. I hadn’t even realized a storm was cooking. I looked up and stared. Never before had I seen such a display. No thunder audible; only lightning made itself known. It was far enough away that I could stand in one place and see the clouds light up, first a cluster to my left, then to my right, then far off in front of me…Occasionally a bolt or two broke through the clouds and lit up the entire sky.

I went for a walk later to see the show again. It’d begun raining a bit and was quite cold, but seeing that lightning was more than worth it.

I read a few Psalms today. One of them was Psalm 19.

“1 The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands. 2 Day after day they pour forth speech; night after night they display knowledge. 3 There is no speech or language where their voice is not heard. 4 Their voice goes out into all the earth, their words to the ends of the world.” Psalm 19:1-4 (NIV)

Really. Just look at it.
